From 1 July 2016 the Department intends to publish information relating to consent given to fossickers planning to enter either of the Margaret Diggings, Spring Hill South or Wave Hill Extension proposed fossicking areas.

This notification is designed to provide members of the public (in particular pastoralists) details of who is entering these areas and how long they intend to be there.

It will also provide valuable information to enable the pastoralist to check that the appropriate notifications have been given to them, as required under the Mineral Titles Act.

An amended ‘Fossicking Request - Reserved Land Over Proposed Fossicking Area’ has been uploaded to replace the existing form and includes a note to all potential fossickers that their name, the area that consent is given for and the period that it relates to will be published on the Department’s website.
